Description: 2006 was quite positive for Latin America. During this year, the region took advantage of the growing international demand for commodities and raw materials adopting effective fiscal and monetary measures. According to the International Monetary Fund this has been the most important period of economic expansion since the 70’s: export growth reached 21% and commercial internal trade grew 25%. The result was a progressive macroeconomic shakedown and a reduction in the inflation rate. For the first time in decades Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador and Peru experience a one-digit inflation.
