Description: When a majority in the Danish parliament voted to commit troops to the Helmand province in early 2006 as part of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s (NATO) Stage III expansion to the southern provinces of Afghanistan, it did so in the knowledge that the operation would be dangerous and likely to result in casualties.
