Description: This paper explains how building peace in a post-conflict situation is perhaps an even greater challenge than ending war. The contributor explains how almost half of all post-conflict states fall back into violent conflict within a decade. The paper describes examples from Bosnia, Afghanistan, Sudan and Guatemala and emphasizes how private sector financial and technical support is vital to create long-term stability in all post-conflict countries.
